The charge is designed to use in lieu of a temped pressure charge on a reinforced concrete bridge, and for attacking reinforced concrete (RC) walls. It has also been found effective against the majority of targets which are likely to be encountered by assault troops. This ammunition is manufactured to Government of India, Ministry of Defence as drawing No. DD (L)-17428 specification No. CIA-0512.

Means of initiation -
a) No. 87 Detonator and / or cordtex for series firing.

The hollow charge produces a cutting action along with the line of tunnel. This cutting action is effective with the arched charge in contact with the target, but for achieving maximum penetration the charge should be stood off few inches from the surface of the target. This will however, results in a smaller area of the target being damaged. Any number of charges, as refired, can be laid together and connected in series for electrical firing.
QUALITY :
The raw materials used for components are tested by independent Quality Assurance wing. During manufacturing stages, quality surveillance, both by producer and Army’s representatives, are provided. The filled charges are tested for functioning every lot.
SAFETY :
The charges are fairly insensitive to shock and friction during normal rough handling whilst transport and storage.
RELIABILITY :
Due to its sound design and careful manufacture, the charges can be used any condition.
SHELF LIFE :
The shelf life of this ammunition is 30 years.
