After reviewing requirments of Propellant for high caliber ammuunitions via-a-vis then capacitiesavailable in 1969-70 
in Chemical Ordnance Factories,a new propellant factory was considered necessary and O.F.Itarsi was set up. 
O.F.Itarsi manufacture Double,Triple and Ball Powder Propellant. Under "Integrated Guided Missile Development 
Programme" of DRDO O.F.Itarsi was assigned the task of easblishing production facilities for composite propellants 
and cast double propellants for the following missile system. 
Medium range surface to Air Missile system : AKASH. 
Multi-role Tactical core Vehicle : TRISHUL.
Third generation Anti-Tank Missile : NAG.
